Indonesian Visit Visa

Single Entry Visit-Visa B211-A (Visit Visa)

What are the activities allowed for this visa?

The Indonesia Single-Entry Visit Visa (Index B211A) allows visitors to engage in various activities during their stay in Indonesia. These include:

  • tourism, 

  • social visits for humanitarian reasons, 

  • attending legal proceedings, 

  • business meetings, 

  • cultural and art performances, 

  • attending sports events, 

  • short-term courses, and 

  • training. 

With this visa, the foreigners are also allowed to transit or continue their journey to another country via Indonesia, and join a means of transportation currently in Indonesia's territory. 

 

It must be noted that it is strictly forbidden for foreigners to engage in any working activities—usually characterized as an activity that receives payment, even for academic internships (if it’s paid), or being a speaker at a conference.

Depending on the situation of its holder, It is also possible to convert this visa into another stay permit upon its expiry.

Validity Period of Visit Visa:

This visa is normally valid for 60 days or 180 days, depending on the type of visa granted. The visa can be extended for up to 180 days in total, with each extension providing an additional 60 days of stay. 

How to apply for Indonesian Visit Visa?

The application for the visa can be made online through the Visa-Online Application by providing the documents including:

  • a valid passport, which should be valid for at least 12 months for a 180-day visa and 6 months for a 60-day visa, while stateless individuals should provide valid travel documents.

  • a letter of guarantee or proof of deposit for investment purposes,

  • proof of financial means of at least 2,000 USD, 

  • a return or onward ticket, and 

  • two colored passport-sized photos.

Visa on Arrival/e-Visa on Arrival (e-VoA)

What is Indonesian VoA or e-VoA?

Indonesian Visa on Arrival (VoA) is a type of visa that facilitate the entry of foreign nationals into Indonesia for certain activities such as tourism, government matters, business discussions, product purchasing, meetings, and transit.

 

While the regular Visit Visa B211A is more comprehensive and allows for a wider range of activities, the e-VOA is specifically tailored to the purposes mentioned above. The e-VOA is an electronic visa that can be obtained online prior to arrival, making the process of obtaining a visa more convenient and efficient for travelers. Currently, the Indonesian government only grants this visa to foreign nationals from 92 countries (Note: The list of countries is being updated by the Indonesian government from time to time).

Validity Period of VoA or e-VoA:

The Indonesian VoA or e-VoA is valid for 30 days and can be renewed for another 30 days.

How to apply for Indonesian Visit Visa?

To apply for the Indonesian Visa on Arrival, there are two options available.

 

The first option is to apply online through the Online Visa Approval application. Applicants will need to fill out the required information, such as personal details and the purpose of the visit, and pay the fee of Rp500,000. The e-VOA will then be issued and sent to the applicant's email. It's important to note that only e-VoA obtained from the Online Visa Approval Application can be extended online.

The second option is to apply directly upon arrival at certain immigration checkpoints in Indonesia. The process is similar to the traditional visa on arrival process and the applicants will also need to pay the same fee of Rp500,000.

Indonesian Working Visa

Temporary Stay Visa (VITAS) for Working (Index C312)

What is the VITAS for Working?

Foreign nationals who are employed by foreign or Indonesian companies who are located in Indonesia and intend to work in Indonesia must secure the Temporary Stay Visa for Working (Index C312). This visa is also known as Visa Tinggal Terbatas or VITAS kerja.

Validity Period of VITAS for Working:

VITAS for working can be granted from 6 months up to 2 years. It then can be renewed or the holders can apply for a Temporary Stay Permit (KITAS).

How to apply for Indonesian Visit Visa?

To apply for Indonesian VITAS for working, there are several required documents that must be provided:

  1. A letter of guarantee from the sponsor who is the employer of the foreign national is needed.

  2. A valid passport with a minimum validity of 12 months (for those who will be working in Indonesia for up to 180 days), or minimum validity of 18 months (for those who will be working or residing in Indonesia for up to one year), or minimum validity of 30 months (for those who will be working or residing in Indonesia for up to two years).

  3. Proof that they have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses while in Indonesia, with a minimum of USD 2,000 or its equivalent.

  4. Two recent color passport-sized photographs with a white background are required, and

  5. A recommendation letter from the relevant authorities in charge of employment or other related institutions.

Please be advised that a recommendation letter from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is also required for applicants who are citizens of certain entities and are working or officials in trade chambers.

Second Home Visa

What is the Indonesian Second Home Visa?

The Indonesian Second Home Visa is a new type of non-working visa that was introduced by the Indonesian government in 2022. It provides foreign nationals with the opportunity to live and reside in Indonesia for an extended period of time. This type of visa is suitable for foreigners who come to Indonesia as investors, travelers, and elderly or those who seek to be retired in this beautiful country. This visa offers a more convenient and streamlined process for foreigners who have sufficient funds and wish to purchase their residence in Indonesia.

Holders of a Second-Home Visa can also apply for the same Visa for their children, husband/wife, or parents as dependents/companions.

Validity Period of Second Home Visa:

This type of visa can be granted for a period from 5 (five) and up to 10 (ten) years.

How to apply for Indonesian Visit Visa?

This visa can be applied by the Foreign National or its sponsor through the Online Visa Approval application by providing:

  1. A legal national passport and still valid for at least 36 months;

  2. Proof of fund in the form of an account owned by the Foreign Nationals or its sponsor with a value of at least 2,000,000,000 IDR (two billion rupiahs) or equivalent;

  3. A recent colored photograph with a size of 4 cm x 6 cm and a white background; and

  4. A curriculum vitae.

VITAS for Investor (Index C313)

What is the VITAS for Investor?

The temporary stay visa for investors in Indonesia, also known as VITAS Investor is given to foreign nationals who will engage in investment activities in Indonesia. This visa is only granted to investors and does not permit them to work in Indonesia

The applicant must comply with the criteria set forth in the investment regulations and legislation during their stay in Indonesia. This visa is designed to facilitate foreign investment in Indonesia, providing investors with a temporary stay permit to carry out their investment activities for a limited period

Validity Period of VITAS for Investor:

This type of visa can be granted for one year or two years. It then can be renewed or the holders can apply for a Temporary Stay Permit (KITAS).

How to apply for VITAS for Investor?

To apply for Indonesian VITAS for investor, there are several required documents that must be provided:

  1. Proof of payment for the immigration deposit. 

  2. A valid passport with a minimum validity of 18 months for those who will be residing in Indonesia for up to one year. 

  3. Proof that the applicants have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses while in Indonesia, with a minimum of USD 2,000 or its equivalent. 

  4. Two recent color passport-sized photographs with a white background are required as well.

  5. A recommendation letter from the relevant authority in the field of investment is necessary. This letter may be issued by the Ministry of Investment or the Investment Coordinating Board.
